Product details Gong Alarm Clock Varnished Wood

The Gong Alarm Clock is a wonderful alternative to those loud beeping and screeching alarm clocks. The gentle gong will ease you out of the sleep state and into the physical world. The highest volume level can awaken a deep sleeper and the lowest volume level is well suited for the light sleeper who wants a gentle awakening.

More about the Gong Alarm Clock Varnished Wood

The Gong Alarm Clock is built to the perfect proportions of the Kheops Pyramid of Gizah, which Feng Shui specialists consider a source of powerful energy, stability, and balance. Two control buttons on either side of the display work in conjunction to set all the functions of the clock including: Setting the time, Setting the alarm, Turning the Snooze function On or Off, Setting the Clock to Gong every quarter-hour, half-hour, or top of the hour, and Setting the volume to one of three levels. The gong is a digital recording of a Gong Bowl played over a high-quality speaker inside the timer - no mechanical parts to fail. The sound quality is amazingly real! PLEASE NOTE: The display does not light up. The Manufacturer says this has been designed as such in order to conserve the batteries. This new version correctly displays 12-hour time (12:00 PM for noon and 12:00 AM for midnight as discussed in the customer reveiws). The new version also has a battery symbol to tell you when the batteries need replacing. The clock is about 5" square at the base (the size of a CD/DVD) and 4 1/2" tall.

Ever since I have been using this clock my life has been fuller with meaning. It is like a companion reminding me, through its lovely chime, to be present to what I am doing and to let go of useless worries. Of course, when I got it, I meant to give it this role and it plays it perfectly. Getting up to the sound of the gong is lovely, but having it chime on the hour all day is even better. There are only 2 buttons to set the various functions, but as I turn off the regular chiming for the night, set the alarm for the morning, sometimes change the setting so that the clock chimes every 15 or 30 minutes or so that it chimes louder when I am busy all over the place, I have come to memorize the various settings quite easily. I love my clock and could not do without it now!

The clock worked well when I first programmed it. I used the interval chime one day and it became an evil presence in the clock. When pushing the appropriate button to program other features - I really only normally use the alarm, or turning off the alarm, - the evil #3 would flash for a millisecond -when I had NOT summoned it with the programming - it aberrently appears at will - then the clock gongs every 15 minutes and is impossible to turn off without unscrewing the bottom and removing the batteries. After multiple trips to find a screwdriver at midnight when I was trying only to turn on my alarm, I just left the bottom panel off. Now if the clock gets moved even a tiny bit, the batteries fall out. I have not used it in months. It was a beautiful sound to wake up to when it worked - insidious when it continued to chime every 15 minutes unless I yanked the batteries.
